I am so thrilled to be able to tell you about a book project I’ve been honored to be a tiny part of. In a little over a month, this project will be a physical book you can hold in your hands. Last year, I wrote a poem, called, Anger, I Will Not Tame Her, for this project, and I’m humbled by the fact that it’s not only sandwiched between poets, essayists, liturgists, and people I admire, but that I also get to share it with you.
On September 20th, Voices of Lament: Reflections on Brokenness and Hope in the World longing for Justice, edited and led by Natasha Sistrunk-Robinson, releases.
This project brought together more than 25 women of color contributing their reflections on Psalm 37.
It meant so much to me to be a small part of this project and group of people. The poems, liturgies, and essays that I heard from the other contributing writers stunned and ministered to me. But more than anything, it was the glimpses I witnessed of these women’s hearts and lives and our communal focus on Psalm 37 that will stay with me for a long time.
The book is available for pre-order now!

Grateful and shalomsick,
Oh wow I can’t wait for this!!
One more thought ~ I just finished watching the trailer and I can feel the water in my eyes. Although I am not a woman of color my years of tears, my sorrow and grief and lament have been criticized and used against me. I grieve new things now, things I just dismissed out of hand or ignored for no reason other than being dismissive. In grieving these past years and grieving now, I have lost many who simply choose to continue the lives we lived. I am anxious to hear from spirits of women I admire and those who I do not yet know.
